Employment Connection Program

Employment Connection Program
At the Afro-Caribbean Food Bank, we recognize that poverty for many immigrant and newcomer families in Canada is a complex and daily struggle. While life here may seem better compared to their home countries, the reality is that many still face significant barriers to securing meaningful employment. Language challenges, limited recognition of international credentials, cultural differences in workplace practices, and a lack of access to resources often prevent individuals from finding jobs that match their skills and experience. As a result, many work multiple low-wage jobs yet remain unable to meet the high cost of living in Canada.
Our Response
The Employment Connection Program was created to help women, youth, and newcomer families overcome these barriers and integrate successfully into the Canadian workforce. Rooted in lived experiences within our community, this program provides culturally sensitive, practical, and free services that equip job seekers with the tools they need to build sustainable careers.

Why It Matters
Employment is more than just income—it is dignity, stability, and hope for a better future. Through this program, the Afro-Caribbean Food Bank is working to break cycles of poverty, support integration, and build a labour force that reflects the true diversity, skills, and experiences of Canada’s population.
✨ Together, we can create opportunities that empower individuals, uplift families, and strengthen our communities.
