About Us
Welcome to Afro-Caribbean Food Bank
Culturally significant foods
The Afro-Caribbean Food Bank Canada Centre was founded in 2017 in response to the growing need for culturally appropriate food support and community services for underserved populations in Edmonton. What began as a grassroots initiative providing Afro-Caribbean staple foods has grown into a trusted community organization dedicated to advancing food security, dignity, health, and well-being for individuals and families facing barriers to accessing nutritious and culturally familiar foods.
Through strong community partnerships and a deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and cultural responsiveness, the Food Bank has become a vital resource for newcomers, refugees, racialized communities, seniors, youth, low-income families, and individuals experiencing homelessness or food insecurity.
More than a food provider, the Afro-Caribbean Food Bank serves as a community hub, connecting people to resources, education, and support services that foster resilience and empowerment. By addressing immediate needs while creating pathways to long-term stability, health, and self-sufficiency, the organization is helping build stronger, healthier, and more inclusive communities across Edmonton.
