Position Overview

The Afro-Caribbean Food Bank Canada Center is seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Project Manager to lead the successful implementation of Beyond Food: A Holistic Food and Financial Empowerment Program. This initiative is designed to address immediate food insecurity while advancing long-term financial stability and socio-economic resilience among Black and Afro-Caribbean families in Edmonton and surrounding communities.

The Project Manager will provide strategic leadership and oversee the day-to-day operations of the program from inception to completion. This role ensures full alignment with program objectives, funder requirements, and organizational priorities, while maintaining a high standard of accountability, impact, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Implementation

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of the Beyond Food program in alignment with strategic goals and timelines.
  • Translate program objectives into actionable work plans, milestones, and measurable outcomes.
  • Ensure culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and dignity-centered service delivery.

Team Management & Operations

  • Supervise, mentor, and support program staff, facilitators, and volunteers.
  • Establish clear roles, expectations, and performance metrics to ensure effective program delivery.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including scheduling, logistics, and resource allocation.

Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coordinate and lead collaboration with community organizations, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate and manage the Project Steering Committee, ensuring effective participation and alignment.
  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships to support coordinated service delivery.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

  • Track and analyze program outputs and outcomes, including food distribution, workshop delivery, and participant engagement.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to funders and stakeholders.
  • Support the development of evaluation frameworks to measure program impact and inform continuous improvement.

Financial Oversight & Compliance

  • Monitor program budgets and expenditures in alignment with funding agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial, reporting, and accountability requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for cost efficiencies while maintaining program quality.

Risk Management & Quality Assurance

  • Identify potential risks and challenges; implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful delivery.
  • Maintain quality standards across all aspects of program implementation.

Sustainability & Growth

  • Contribute to sustainability planning and long-term program development.
  • Identify opportunities for partnerships, funding, and program expansion beyond the initial funding period.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in project or program management, preferably within a non-profit or community-based setting.
  • Strong understanding of food security, financial literacy, and social service delivery systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and multi-stakeholder initiatives.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with Black-led organizations and culturally diverse communities.
  • Ability to apply equity-focused, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Experience with program evaluation, reporting, and accountability frameworks.

This role is central to advancing the Afro-Caribbean Food Bank’s mission of delivering more than food, supporting individuals and families on a pathway from immediate relief to long-term stability, empowerment, and independence.
